We are now less than one week away from the official start of the 2015 Tufts Baseball season. While the current weather conditions would make us think otherwise, baseball season is here. The guys have been working hard in the weight room and in the cage to prepare for what hopes to be a promising season for the Jumbos.
The past couple months have seen some changes in the coaching staff. With mixed emotions we say goodbye to Kevin Casey as he takes on an exciting challenge over at Northeastern University. Kevin was an integral part in the success of the Jumbos past two seasons and his passion and competitiveness will surely be missed. We wish Kev the best of luck and know he’ll do a great job over there. With Kevin’s departure brings new assistant coach Todd Alford. Todd is a former head coach at the JUCO level where he led Wallace Community College-Selma to their first ever regional and state championship. He has spent the last few years as owner and operator of Elite Performance in Rochester, NY and as the pitching coach of the Rochester Ridgemen of the NYCBL. We are fortunate to have Coach Alford onboard, and are excited about the experience he brings with him.
Practice starts this weekend, which gives us less than one month until our opening game against Castleton State on March 13th down in Newport News, VA. The guys can’t wait to head south out of the snow and play ball! If you have not already, take a look at the schedule on our website - we hope to see you all at a game this spring.
