The Jumbos return to class this week after a successful summer of baseball for many of the guys.
Ian Kinney joined the Fond Du Lock Dock Spiders of the Northwoods League for the final month of their season. He pitched in 6 games, throwing 11 innings with a 2.38 ERA.
Nick Falkson played for the North Shore Navigators of the Futures League. Nick was a catalyst for the Navigator offense batting .273 with a .397 OBP aided by a team high 12 HBP.
RJ Hall returned to the Futures League joining the Worcester Bravehearts for the 2017 season. RJ started the first game of Futures League Championship Series going 5 innings allowing 1 R with 5 Ks.
Tommy O’Hara finished his second season in Futures League playing with the Brockton Rox. He drove in 23 runs for the Rox and knocked 4 homers including a solo shot in their lone playoff game.
Brad Marchetti was a late season addition to the Brockton Rox. He pitched 8.1 innings and struck out 9 batters for them out of the bullpen.
Incoming Freshman Manny Ray was a mid season addition for the Futures League Champion Nashua Silver Knights. He pitched in 10 games for the Knights including 2 starts.
JP Knight stole a team high 14 bases for the Genesee Rapids of the New York Collegiate Baseball League.
Elias Varinos was runner up Player of the Year in the North Shore league. In 20 games he batted .387 with a .500 OBP and a 14/4 BB/K ratio. In 9 innings on the mound he had a .78 ERA while striking out 13 and walking 0.
Malcolm Nachmanoff, Will Shackelford, and Casey Santos-Ocampo had successful seasons playing the Inter City League. Will and Malcolm also represented the Jumbos in the annual
Oldtime Baseball Game to raise funds for the ALS Therapy Development Institute and the John Martin Fund.
Ryan Day, James Patti, and Colin Ward helped lead the Towne Club of the Boston Parks league to a 19-11 overall record.
Eric Schnepf and Christian Zazzali played for the Rondolph Chiefs of the Metropolitan Collegiate Baseball League. Eric caught 29% of would be base stealers had an OBP of .548 while Christian had an OBP of .360 and scored 8 runs in 12 games as they helped their team to a 12-4 record.
In the Atlantic Baseball Confederation Colegiate League, John Moschella batted .308 with 13 RBI and 11 runs scored in 20 games for the Freehold Clippers.
Harrison Frickman played in the Carolina-Virginia Summer Colliegiate League for the Carolina Coyotes.
Down in Texas, Spencer Langdon was 3-1 with a 2.20 ERA and 19 Ks over 28.2 innings with the Tarrant County Cagerats of the Great Southwest Collegiate League.
Overall we had over 20 guys playing summer ball in over 10 Summer Collegiate Leagues. We are excited to see the successes our guys had this summer and look forward to carrying them into the fall and eventually the season.
