Friends of Tufts Baseball
Well classes have begun and fall ball is in full swing! The guys have hit the ground running, working hard in the weight room and pool and the captains are running fall ball with great enthusiasm. It was a great summer as Coach Brendan, Coach Rosen and myself spent a lot of time on the road recruiting We hit CA, TN, AL, CT, ME, NH, NY, NJ, IL, FL, MA, PA, VA, DC, GA and TX in our travels and saw a lot of talented players. At this point we have 5 guys committed: they hail from GA, CO, MA (2) and NJ, hopefully we will be wrapping up this class in a few weeks.
The incoming 1st year class is getting settled in and we are very happy with not only the talent but how tight they seem to be with each other. Captain Elias Varinos ‘A20 has done a good job in setting the standards for the guys, he has been very well supported by his fellow seniors-Ryan Day, JP Knight, Justin Mills, Brent Greeley, Spencer Langdon and Harrison O’Brien. Even though we have graduated a very talented class in 2019 we embrace the challenge before us and look ahead with great anticipation to the 2020 season.
We also will be travelling to the Dominican Republic with the team over Thanksgiving break. This trip will be an incredible opportunity for the team to bond, play some good competition, engage in some community service and be exposed to a different culture. Some preliminary details accompany this newsletter. We look forward to our Homecoming Tailgate on Sat 10/19 in our usual place, please stop by to hang with the coaches and fellow alums. Finally, we will be holding a Baseball Alumni Council meeting on Tues 9/17. We will report out the results of that meeting shortly after its completion.
